Day 1 Luang Prabang Arrival

Upon arrival, the tour guide and driver welcome you at the airport and then take you to the hotel to check in.

After taking a soft rest, you and the tour guide will walk through the small streets of Luang Prabang to get familiar with the city and admire the local life. We will make a stop at one of the petanque courses, where we can join a game with a local team.

Our last stop is the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Day 2 Mekong River - Pak Ou Caves

Morning 

After breakfast, we will cycle to the suburb and head north on Road 13 to explore the beautiful countryside. After a two-hour ride, reach Ban Xang Hai village known for crafting clay jars used in fermenting Lao wine. The village now specializes in producing 'Lao Lao' whiskey and 'Lao Hai' wine. 

Continuing cycling for 45 minutes on a dirt road, we will reach Ban Pak Ou for lunch.

Afternoon 

We cross the Mekong River to visit the famous Buddha Caves which sit amongst the limestone cliffs where the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers meet.

The caves, Tham Ting and Tham Theung are filled with thousands of Buddha images deposited over centuries. Pak Ou is a popular pilgrimage site, especially during Lao New Year when pilgrims ceremonially wash Buddha statues. 

Drop bicycles onto the boat and cruise down the Mekong toward Luang Prabang, enjoying the scenic river views. 

If time permits, stop at Ban San Xang Khong village to witness mulberry paper making. Return to Luang Prabang around 16:30, then cycle back to the hotel.

Day 3 Green Jungle Park

Morning

After breakfast, we cycle to the boat pier for a ferry ride across the Mekong River, transitioning to a different, modern side of Luang Prabang. 

Upon arrival, we continue cycling the next 10 km to the Green Jungle Park. We relax with tea or coffee, complete a security acknowledgment form, and undergo safety training with our experienced guide. 

We begin climbing to the higher trees for a loop of 14 stations to challenge your friends or yourself with 14 different bridges and obstacles.

Challenge your agility and use your balance with some Wooden Bridges, ZIG-ZAG WalkWay, Monkey Bridge, Crossing Net, Flying Trapeze, Rope Crossing, Wooden Bridge, Tires Path, etc.

After completing this thrilling challenge, we will back down to the coffee shop to have lunch.

Afternoon 

Around 14:30, join a guided hike to the top of the waterfall for a panoramic mountain view. Explore the natural pool from the waterfall's spring, and gain insights into jungle vegetation, and the tales of Hoi Khua waterfall.

Continuing with the governor’s tree plantations project with some wild fields, we enjoy the natural taste of some veggies found along the way and then walk back down to the coffee shop for lunch.

You are then free to stroll around the park, admire the flower garden, or just relax and enjoy a cup of coffee amidst the green nature surrounding.

In the late afternoon, we will cycle back to the pier and take the ferry back to Luang Prabang.

Day 4 Luang Prabang - Nahm Dong Park

Morning

Have breakfast at your hotel. Around 08:30, the tour guide and driver will wait for you in the lobby. Then we head to Nahm Dong Park, situated in Ban Xiengmouk, approximately 10 km from the city center. 

Upon arrival, the park manager will offer a brief welcome before engaging in morning activities. Begin with a thrilling Zipline Flying over the jungle and waterfalls, lasting approximately 1 hour.

Then we will walk back through the jungle trail crossing some flying bridges, small streams, and clear natural pools, where you can take a refreshing splash if you wish.

Afternoon 

The picnic lunch will be served at the viewpoint, offering panoramic views, including the view of Mount Phousi in the city center.

You can either spend the rest of the afternoon taking a stroll around the park, relaxing by huts, or enjoying the natural pools. 

Evening

Tonight, we will set up a campsite with provided tents at Nahm Dong Park. Dinner and a campfire await, providing an overnight stay under the starry sky.

Day 5 Trek Ban Long Lao - Kuang Si Waterfalls

Morning

After breakfast, explore the ethnic Khmu village of Ban Long Lao Nung and the nearby Hmong village of Ban Long Lao Song. Observe the lifestyles of these culturally diverse minority groups, witnessing their daily life collaboration.

The trail continues through rice paddies and vegetable fields before reaching the mountainous forest. Along the way, we will explore a cave used as a bomb shelter by the locals during the Second Indochina War.

After visiting the cave, we will trek for an additional hour to one of the many springs that feed Kuang Si Waterfalls, where a beautiful pool full of sacred fish can be seen. 

Then descending from the waterfall's top, we enjoy a Lao-style lunch in a picturesque setting. 

Afternoon 

Spend the afternoon bathing and relaxing by the turquoise pools below the waterfall. Optionally, visit the nearby bear conservation center, housing bears rescued from illegal farms.

Before returning to Luang Prabang we take a short walk to a nearby Khmu village of Ban Thapene which is home to some of the most beautiful pools of Kuang Si Waterfalls.

Day 6 Mandalao Elephant Camp

Morning 

After breakfast, the tour guide and driver pick you up at 08:30, heading to the nearby village of Xieng Lom. 

Upon arrival, you will relax with a cup of coffee or tea as your guide provides an in-depth introduction to elephant behavior and proper interaction methods.

A brief boat ride across the Nam Khan River will deliver you to the waiting elephants. You get acquainted with your new friends and feed them some special treats - a sure way to begin an instant friendship.

With your elephant companions, you will continue walking past a lovely stretch of rice fields and enter a patch of forest where you can rest, relax, and eat. 

Lunch will be served in traditional Lao fashion, eating on bamboo mats on the forest floor.

Afternoon 

Explore Tad Kuang Song Waterfall, named after a Golden Deer spirit seen on its crest centuries ago. Optionally, take a refreshing dip, stand under the soft showers, and meditate while admiring the private beauty of this rarely-seen natural treasure.

You will witness the MandaLao mahouts communicate and listen to their elephants, gaining deeper insight into each elephant's unique skills and personality.

After learning from the mahouts and guides, spend uninterrupted time with the elephants, interpreting their emotions as they read yours. Experience firsthand the unwavering bond that humans and elephants have shared for thousands of years.

Along with the mahouts, you will bring your elephants to their nighttime feeding grounds. Take time for a long goodbye and to know that the connection you have built is not only felt by you, but by your new friend as well.

Reflect on your experiences from the terrace at MandaLao, gazing at the expansive Luang Prabang mountain range. We will then drive you back to town. We will reach Luang Prabang at around 16:00.

Day 7 Tad Sae Waterfall - Nam Khan River

Morning 

After breakfast, we will be picked up at the lobby at around 08:30.

After a 30-minute ride out of town, we reach the banks of the Nam Khan River, marking the beginning of your day of nature activities 

Visitors will embark on a trek that lasts around 3 to 4 hours to explore the small Khamu community in front of a vast mountain range. 

Walk along soft, swinging slopes, gaining insights into their daily life. Wander around the village, engage with locals, and feel free to stop and ask any questions you may have.

Afternoon 

Lunch will be served along the way, preferably in the village with local cuisine or a prepared lunch box. 

Following that, we'll explore the Tad Sae waterfalls and the Nam Khan River valley. You may take some time to hang out enjoy the scenery, and immerse yourself in the nature and cascades surrounding you.

From there, our guide will provide a brief kayaking tour overview and teach paddling techniques if it's your first time. A relaxing river journey follows and brings you back to Luang Prabang.

Several stops along the way can be done, to discover a village or the grave of the former French explorer Henry Mohout.

Concluding the day's adventure, we will take Tuk Tuk back to our hotel in Luang Prabang.

Day 8 Luang Prabang departure

Have breakfast at your hotel. Free time to explore Luang Prabang until driver picks up you at lobby then take you to the airport for your departure flight.
