Luang Prabang - Weaving Full day

Pick-up at your hotel and head out to see Phone Say village for a visit, which lies hidden along the Mekong River, just a few kilometers from the city center. Phone Say is one of the most intact traditional Lao villages in the area. Here, almost 100% of women work with textiles while men make traps for fishing on the Mekong. This hidden, charming village cannot be reached by vehicles, but is just half an hour walk from the main road.

Although close to the city, entering the village is like entering another world with the rattle of weavers’ looms clacking away all day long. Late in the afternoon, you’ll attend an Ock Pop Tok - a seminar on sericulture, natural dyes, weaving techniques, and symbolism in Lao textiles.

Many visitors are overwhelmed by the beauty and quantity of Lao textiles and our seminar will answer some of the frequently asked questions. Joanna and Veo are experienced speakers, having lectured in Australia, Singapore, Thailand and the US. The talk takes place in a covered part of our workshop along the banks of the Mekong.

During the seminar, we’ll serve cocktails and you will be able to enjoy a peaceful sunset over the mystic Mekong. Transfer back to hotel for the night.
