Day 1 Luang Prabang Arrival - Baci Ceremony

Morning

When arriving at the airport, you will be warmly greeted by the guide, and the driver will take you to your hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, finish your check-in procedure, and feel free to walk around to have a look at the city.

Afternoon

Join a Baci ceremony, also known as Su Kwan, which means ‘calling of the soul’. Have dinner with the host family in order to have the first experience of local life.

Day 2 Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves

Morning

After breakfast, to kick off the trip, we will visit the Royal Palace Museum, built in 1904, which was the former King’s residence.

Get on a peaceful cruise upstream on the Mekong River to have a stunning view of the countryside. We will then reach the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, which shows a collection of thousands of Buddha statues. Make a stop at Ban Xanghai Village, where they produce the local rice wine along the way. 

On the way back, we will have a chance to amaze the glorious Wat Xiengthong - a superb piece of Lao temple architecture. Later, we will visit the Traditional Art and Ethnology Center to have a close look at Lao’s history and ethnic culture.

Move up to Wat Prabath in sunset - a small but picturesque temple to catch the last beauty of the day. We call it a day after stopping by the Night Market, where you can find some unique handmade crafts made by the locals.

Day 3 Luang Prabang - Kuang Si Waterfall

Morning

Wake up at the crack of dawn, tourists will be preparing for the daily morning almsgiving, monks depart from many temples to gather their daily meal from the devoted residents. 

After that, we will visit the temporary market near the Royal Palace, where you can experience the atmosphere of local daily life.

Clamber 329 steps up to Phousi Hill for a lovely view of the whole city and the Mekong River. We will follow up the journey with a transfer to the marvelous Kuang Si Waterfall. Have the chance to explore the rich flora and fauna, bathe in the waterfall, and immerse yourself in the cool water flowing.

Have a short visit to the Bear Rescue Center, the house of rescued bears from traffickers.

Before getting back to Luang Prabang, we will have a look at the Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park (closed from 15 APR – 30 JUN; 01-14 SEP, & 01 JAN every year) where they are studying and publishing about Laos butterflies, host plants, and preservation.

Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center is the next destination for us to learn more about the fascinating world of Lao textiles. The center offers free tours every half-hour.

Day 4 Luang Prabang - Pakse - Bolaven Plateau

Morning

Take a flight to Pakse - the largest town in southern Laos. After the flight, we headed to the Bolaven Plateau, known as the home of many hill tribes.

The Tad Lo Waterfalls will be the first destination. You can see Tad Hang and Tad Lo in the distance from the bridge. Tad Suong, the most magnificent of the three, is situated 10 kilometers farther upriver.

Drive to Ban Houay Houn Village. The village is famous for its Katu Textiles, where the women use their legs to stretch the fabric instead of the traditional loom.

The Paksong and Bolovan Plateau will be our next destination. The Bolaven Plateau, with its pure air and beautiful natural surroundings, is renowned as Laos' primary coffee-growing location. Tourists can certainly escape the unbearable heat of Laos with a journey to the Bolaven Plateau.

Day 5 Coffee Trail Experience

Morning

09:00: Meet the jeep tour specialist and have a talk with him while enjoying a cup of coffee. Get on a 30-minute jeep tour to Tad Moun waterfalls so as to dive in the fresh cool water and stop by a nearby vegetable farm.

11:00: Take a one-hour jeep to the Coffee Farm to meet the owner of the farm. The owner will tell you how to roast coffee, and tourists can try different kinds of coffee (Robusta, Arabica, and Typica). 

Afternoon

13:30: Have a picnic lunch on the farm before driving to Laven village to see their daily life and paddy fields. Then drive to Suay village to view some traditional long houses made of bamboo.

We will drive back to the hotel and call it a day. Overnight in Bolaven Plateau.

Day 6 Bolaven Plateau - Wat Phou - Don Khone

Morning

After the morning meal, visitors will be transferred to Wat Phou Temple - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic temple, which dates to the fifth century, formerly served as a hub of Hinduism and was devoted to the god Shiva.

We will pass through the small town of Champasak and stop at Ban Nong Bune - a wood-carving village. After that, we continue traveling south to the 4000 Island region, which is made up of several little islands dispersed across the enormous Mekong Delta.

From Ban Nakasang, we take a boat transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Don Khone.

Day 7 Don Khone - 4000 Islands

Morning

From Don Khone, we will drive to Khong Island - the biggest island of the 4000 island area. Then, we will get on a long-tail boat to sightsee the lyrical scenery of the Mekong River.

Discover the beautiful peacefulness of Ban Khone upon arrival, where you may retrace colonial history and witness a variety of artifacts from the French colonial era.

Have a look around the 4000 islands by tuk-tuk and visit the majestic and fierce Liphi Waterfall, also called the "Corridor of the Devil". At Ban Hang Khone, we may even have the good fortune to spot the endangered freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong dolphin. 

We return to the mainland at the fishing village of Ban Nakasang and drive further south to visit Khone Phapheng - the biggest waterfall in Southeast Asia. 

Drive back and stay overnight on Khong Island.

Day 8 Khong Island - Departure

Morning

You have two options for departure from the island:

  • Proceed across the Dom Kralor border to Cambodia
  • Return to Pakse to take the departure flight to your next destination
