Day 1 Luang Prabang Arrival - Sightseeing Tour

Morning

Step down to the airport, Sunshine tour guide and driver will welcome you, then take you to the hotel to check in and have a quick break.

Warm up your journey with a city tour to visit the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, one of the biggest and most alluring temples in Luang Prabang. The temple itself is well known for the stunning “Tree of Life” mosaic art placed at the back of the main hall. 

If we have enough time, we'll take a brief walk around the city's narrow streets, see local’s daily life, and stop by Heuan Chan - a 100-year-old traditional wooden house. 

Afternoon

Climbing up to the top of Mount Phousi to be charmed with a panoramic sunset view of the city and the Mekong River, as well as take delight in exploring the revered, gold-plated stupa.     

The Baci ceremony is a traditional ceremony in Lao that has been maintained for hundreds of years. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a private Baci ceremony and have dinner with the local family. This gives the tourists the opportunity to learn more about Lao culture.

Day 2 Luang Prabang Culture Experience

Morning

After breakfast, our tour guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel to start the cultural tour, including:

The Royal Palace Museum, popularly known as the former residence of King Sisavang Vong and his family, was constructed in 1904 during the French colonial era.

Traditional Arts & Ethnology Center is a local social enterprise that works to preserve the ethnic cultural heritage of Laos and traditional skills-based livelihoods.

Join a 60-minute seminar on “Ethnic Diversity and Cultural Change in Laos” to gain a thorough understanding of the ethnic communities, history, and cultural customs of Laos. 

Tourists will have a chance to catch up on some unique artifacts from the TAEC collection that are not available to the general public. The seminars are led by one of the two TAEC Founder /Directors.

An ethnic Khmu lunch will be served at noon

Afternoon

Visit Ban Xangkhong - a handicraft village where silks and Saa papers are made. Join a one-hour demonstration of the process of making Saa paper, which is made from mulberry trees. Viewers can also try making some paper products, such as lanterns or handbags, which can be brought home later. 

If we have some extended time, we can drop by some traditional textile looms and the neighboring Ban Xienglek.

Come back to the hotel and take a rest.

Day 3 Luang Prabang - Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center

Morning

We will visit Ock Pop Tok Living Craft Center, which is located on the bank of the Mekong River. We will learn more over the entire trip about the origins, advancement, and craftsmanship of Lao textiles and handicrafts. Join a hands-on workshop and learning experience lasting 2.5 hours that includes:

  • Meet the silkworm: Give a description of the silkworm's life, some interesting facts regarding sericulture
  • Guests prepare mulberry leaves for the worms.
  • Prepare natural dyes: After receiving a brief introduction to natural dyes, participants are asked to produce two dye sources made from plants collected in the LCC gardens. They then use these sources to color white scarves with their preferred hues. 
  • Refreshments Break: Fruit platters and Lao-style drinks.
  • Meet the weavers: Introduction to the looms and various weaving processes.
  • Ikat Weaving Demonstration: Visitors are welcome to practice weaving and spinning on our demonstration looms.

Afternoon

Tourists have a chance to join 01 of the following classes (not included in the price, pay on the spot): 

  • Natural Dye Class: Learn the techniques for making natural dyes while attempting to produce your own. You will have 3 colored skeins to take home as keepsakes by the end of this course.
  • Weaving Class: With the assistance of professionals, learn to master the craft of weaving. Create a placemat with a Lao motif using two colors.
  • Hmong Batik Drawing Class: an introduction to Hmong culture. Each student will create a wax resist, Hmong-style design on hand-loomed hemp.
  • Bamboo weaving class: Learn about the numerous applications of bamboo in Laos by joining the master bamboo weaver. Students in a half-day program will weave a traditional fan or a placemat. 

 Make our way back to the hotel in the late afternoon and call it a day

Day 4 Luang Prabang - Morning Alms Giving - Pak Ou Caves - Ban Chan

Morning

Rouse yourself from morning sleep because we will participate in the Lao Monks' Morning Alms - an everyday morning custom of saffron-clad monks receiving offerings from faithful locals.

Visit the early-morning neighborhood market close to the Royal Palace for a quick look at the local culture. 

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we hit the road upstream to the Mekong River on a cruise, which gives us an enchanted view of the surroundings. 

Visitors who come to Pak Ou Caves will see countless magnificent sculptures inside the cave, including more than 4000 Buddha statues.

We'll stop at Ban Xanghai village along the route to see how the native rice wine is made. On the way back, we will pop down to a local village at Ban Chan, which is famous for its pottery making. View the subterranean kilns that can heat hundreds of jars at once, and feel free to support them by purchasing a little figure at your own expense.

Back to Luang Prabang to spend the night.

Day 5 Luang Prabang Departure

Morning

Eat breakfast in the hotel. Free time till the driver picks you up in the lobby, then transport you to the airport for your flight out.
