Overview

The Bassac offers short-to medium-length exploration excursions on the charming Mekong. This boat was constructed and designed with an exquisite style, based on the classic look of traditional rice boats, and can comfortably seat up to 24 people.

Bassac Boat primarily provides tours (SIC available) on the Mekong Delta’s most famous and crowded sections, Mang Thit and Co Chien Rivers. The cruise will take you to the most typical floating market, Cai Be market, where you can appreciate the scene, sound, and fragrance. This is a fantastic chance to immerse yourself in the distinct culture of the Mekong civilization using all of your senses.

Day 1 Can Tho - Mang Thit River

Morning

12:00: Our journey begins on the first day, you will meet our guide at Can Tho. Embark to the Bassac Cruise and check in your rooms. 

Lunch is served downstream to the Hau River. 

Afternoon

The ship sails through the Nicolai canal, towards the Co Chien and Mang Thit rivers. At this time, you can enjoy the view of rice fields, sugar cane, and woods around. 

In the middle of afternoon, the Bassac cruise will anchor to the shore. 

We start to discover the daily life of Delta’s rural area through tree lines, stretching rice fields, fruit farms and friendly locals here. Or you can try a cycling tour surrounding the countryside. 

Afterward, we come back to the ship and take a break on the deck. Find your seat around the bar and savor the unbreathing sunset.  

Evening

In the evening, our crew will prepare your dinner on Mang Thit River. Stay all night at Bassac Cruise.

Day 2 Mang Thit River - Cho Lach Canal - Cai Be

Morning

At 6:00 Bassac cruise transfers to Cai Be before having breakfast. 

On the way to Cai Be, our cruise passes the Co Chien River and turns into Cho Lach Canal through the bustling traffic of sand and rice barges. View fruit-drying factories and wooden ship-building yards on the trip. 

Upon arrival, we get off the cruise and board on a rowing boat. Sail through a small canal if tide conditions seem good. Then meet with a local boat, which takes you to the shore for an exploration of Cai Be’s craft village.  

After visiting Cai Be in the middle of the morning, farewell with our guides and transfer to your departure point. 

NOTE:  You will permanently disembark from the Bassac upon boarding the small boat for the last visit, typically around 8:00.

Tour 3 Days 2 Nights

Day 1 Cai Be - Cho Lach Canal - Tra On

Afternoon

Upon your arrival in Cai Be at noon, you'll be fondly welcomed with a warm drink, and an introduction to both the ship and its crew, followed by a seamless check-in process into the comfortable cabins. 

Our course is set for Cho Lach, navigating the Tien Giang River as we enjoy lunch on board and find solace on the deck. 

The Bassac gracefully glides into the bustling Cho Lach Canal, amidst the vibrant river traffic, markets, and churches. This provides a unique opportunity to witness the diverse and lively scenes along the banks and water. 

As the afternoon unfolds, the Bassac drops anchor, allowing us to explore ashore. Venture beyond the initial tree line and discover the serene life in the delta's countryside - rice fields, fruit orchards, and the warm embrace of the local inhabitants. 

Alternatively, choose a brief cycling tour of the surrounding area.

Upon returning on board, relish a complimentary drink as a welcome-back gesture.

Evening

Unwind on the deck, savoring the mesmerizing sunset, before the crew serves a delightful dinner while the Bassac gracefully cruises along the Mang Thit River

Our night's anchorage is just downstream from Tra On, promising a tranquil and restful night.

Day 2 Cai Be - Can Tho - Cai Rang Floating Market - Mang Thit River

Morning

Setting sail at 6:00, our boat embarks on a journey towards Can Tho, where a delicious breakfast awaits.

Upon reaching Can Tho, we transfer to a local boat for an immersive visit to the Cai Rang floating market, followed by a stop at a small bamboo basket workshop. 

By mid-morning, we return to the Ninh Kieu pier. As we board, a welcoming drink awaits, and our adventure continues downstream along the Hau River. 

Indulge in a delectable lunch on board while cruising through the picturesque Nicolai canal, exploring the Mang Thit and Co Chien rivers. Relax on the upper deck, surrounded by the scenic beauty of rice fields, sugar cane, and wooded banks. 

Afternoon

In the mid-afternoon, the Bassac drops anchor for an onshore excursion - a serene exploration beyond the first tree line into the peaceful delta countryside. Discover the charm of rice fields, fruit orchards, and the friendly locals, or opt for a brief cycling tour of the surrounding area. 

Evening

Upon reboarding, a complimentary drink welcomes you back on board. Whether you choose to unwind on the deck or at the bar, soak in the breathtaking sunset. 

The crew will serve a delightful dinner while the Bassac gracefully cruises the Mang Thit River. As night falls, the Bassac finds its anchor point for a peaceful night on the tranquil waters.

Day 3 Mang Thit River - Cho Lach Canal - Cai Be

Morning

Setting sail at 6:00, our boat gracefully cruises toward Cai Be, where a delightful breakfast awaits. 

Navigating the Co Chien River, the Bassac then meanders into the Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes, weaving through a lively tapestry of sand and rice barges. The picturesque journey unfolds against a backdrop of fruit-dried facilities and wooden shipbuilding yards. 

Around 8:00, When we reach Cai Be, it's time for check-out and a transfer to a rowing boat, offering a tranquil exploration through a small canal if the tide permits. 

Later, rendezvous with a local boat that will ferry you to shore for an enriching visit to Cai Be's handicraft scene.
