Day 1 Luang Prabang Arrival - City Tour

When you arrive at the airport, our tour guide will meet you and the driver will transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

After a soft break, we will walk around the small streets of the city center to watch the life of local people.

Visit the Royal Palace Museum - the former palace of King Sisavang Vong and his family.

Late afternoon, we climb to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred stupa as well as a stunning view of the city and the Mekong River.

Evening

Welcome dinner will be served at a local restaurant with folk songs and traditional dance.

We will call it a day after a visit to the Night Market where you can find lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hill tribe people.

Day 2 Luang Prabang - Ban Long Lao - Kuang Si Waterfalls

Morning

We start a one-hour west to Ban Xeng Mouk village for a trek start. The first leg of the journey, tourists begin a visit to the ethnic Khmu village of Ban Longdao Nung before heading to the neighboring Hmong village of Ban Longlao Song. Observe their life - despite the differences between 2 cultures, they manage to live together.

Before reaching the mountainous forest, through rice paddy and vegetable fields, we will explore a cave that has been used as a bomb shelter during the second Indochina war. 

A one-hour trek will get us to the Kuang Si waterfalls - a must-see destination in Luang Prabang. After we get down from the top of the waterfall, we will enjoy a Lao-style lunch.

Afternoon

We can spend time bathing in the crystal clear turquoise pools, then visit the Rescue Bear Centre to view some rare bears that have been rescued from illegal farms.

Before getting back to the hotel, we will walk to the Khmu village of Ban Thapene to view some of the most beautiful pools of Kuang Si waterfalls.

Day 3 Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Caves - Nong Khiaw

Morning

Take a visit to Wat Xiengthong - one of the most alluring temples in Luang Prabang. The magnificent "Tree of Life" mosaic art installed at the rear of the main hall is a famous feature of the temple itself. 

Travel on a boat to the Mekong river where we can admire the scenery and stop off at a few villages. Pay a visit to Pak Ou Caves to admire thousands of Buddha statues in various sizes and shapes.

Get in the car and travel to Nong Khiaw, a small town along the Nam Ou River. Transfer to your hotel in town and call it a day.

Overnight in Nong Khiaw.

Recommended: We can take a 1.5-hour hike up to Nong Khiaw viewpoint to be amazed at the marvelous view all over the town in the late afternoon. You should start no later than 16:00 to make sure you can admire the sunset at the top.

Day 4 Nong Khiaw - Tad Mork - Ban Phayong

Morning

08:00: Upon making our first stop of the day at a tiny riverbank town, we take a local long boat and go upstream through some amazing scenery. 

Here, we spend some time exploring and, if it's a weekday, visit the local school to see the endearing kids as they participate in their lessons.

An hour walk from the river onwards to Tad Mork, which is near the ethnic Khmu village of Ban Sop Kong. Have some time to swim and enjoy a picnic lunch by the waterfall.

Afternoon

Take a 2.5 - 3 hours walk through the jungle to Ban Phayong - the village of H’mong ethnic.

When you arrive at the village, you can take a stroll around the town to get familiar with the local villagers.

We will attend the Baci Ceremony, also known as Su Kwan, which means ‘calling of the soul’ before dining with the host family. Your guides may describe the ritual in further detail.

Spend your night at Ban Phayong.

Day 5 Ban Phayong - Muang Ngoi

Morning

You can help the host prepare breakfast or watch the sunrise over the mountains. In the morning, we will have 3 hours trekking downhill via the paddy, corn fields to the bank of Nam Ou River. Board on the cruise upstream to Muang Ngoi, a fishing village, to view their daily life. 

Afternoon

Walk to the local village of Ban Na, Khmu village, and the caverns of Tham Kaang, one of the most revered locations for the locals.

As the sun is sinking, make your way back to Muang Ngoi.  You may swim in the Nam Ou River like the natives do, if time allows. Spend the night at Muang Ngoi

Day 6 Muang Ngoi - Nong Khiaw - Muang Soune

Morning

We take a boat back to Nong Khiaw. Visit the nearby market to buy fresh foods before continuing further to Muang Soune, which is located 65 km from Nong Khiaw by the bank of Nam Ou River

Arriving in the village, you will be welcomed by the host family and then stroll around the village for the sight of the local’s daily life. After that, we go to the village chief's home and have a chat about daily life there.

The lunch will then be served at the house of the host family. 

Afternoon

Explore local activities in the village, visit the school, go to see the weavers who can tailor-make a local dress for you, and other village artisans. If you wish, the dip in the Nam Ou river is quite worth a try.

You can participate in the dinner preparation with the host to learn more about Lao food. 

Sight the scenery around the river bank and sense nature before going to bed if you want.

Day 7 Muang Soune - Nam Ou Riverside

Morning

Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the Nam Ou River, and the nearby mountains (Optional).

After breakfast, we will spend time fishing by the Nam Ou River and learn some special fishing techniques. A boat trip exploring the surroundings will also be included.

11:00: Come back to the village and transfer back to Luang Prabang

Afternoon 

Make a stop at Ban Vanglae, home of the lovely Nam Ou River Resort, where we will spend the rest of the day relaxing and exploring by ourselves.

Overnight at Nam Ou Riverside Resort.

Day 8 Nam Ou Riverside - Departure

Morning 

You are free to stroll around the resort or the nearby village before taking the departure flight to next destination
