Day 2 Local Market - City Tour

Morning

Let's skip the regular breakfast at the hotel to experience a real-local popular “Bai sach chrouk” (marinated pork with steamed rice) in a local restaurant. The dish was featured in a CNN travel article as one of the “10 meals every visitor to Cambodia should try”.

Then, we will witness a busy life at the local Central Market, where you see all the fresh meats, fish, seafood, vegetables, etc. Heading to the souvenir section, where tonnes of souvenirs are displayed for sale. You may also explore the surrounding of the market where different business sections are conducted.

You will enjoy another authentic street food near Soriya Mall, where most of the locals come to have lunch during lunch break. Back to the hotel for a short break.

Afternoon

We visit the Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866, and the Silver Pagoda, located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, then continue to the National Museum, one of Phnom Penh's true architectural gems.

The last stop is at Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. It was a high school used as a prison by Pol Pot's security forces and became the largest center for detention and torture during the rule of the Khmer Rouge.

For dinner, we head out to Orussey Market for street food. You can meet local people and taste truly authentic food. There are many varieties to try, such as fried noodles with beef and noodle soup. The perfect spot to possibly try “baby duck egg” or marinated beef stick.
