Mekong Delta Authentic River Experience

Morning

08:00: Your tour guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel, then you will be transferred by car to the pier and get on a luxurious speed boat.

08:15: When the boat trip begins, you will depart from bustling Saigon city via narrow canals to enter the lush green tributaries of the Mekong Delta. A light breakfast is served on board.

We make a quick stop at the beautiful Tuong Van Pagoda, one of Ho Chi Minh City's most famous pagodas. Here, the guide will talk about the importance of Buddhism to the Mekong Delta's inhabitants.

Visit a bustling, colorful riverside market full of local specialties and learn about the daily lives of local people. This is also a great opportunity to go shopping for yourself and try delicious tropical fruits.

Reach the idyllic watery expanses of the Delta itself, known as the Delta of Nine Dragons for the 9 tributaries that splinter from the main Mekong River, and immerse yourself in the peaceful natural beauty as you pass by fruit orchards and charming rice fields.

We will move to the winding canals of the Thu Thua area and chill under the cool shade of a canopy of foliage as you drift along lazily.

Depending on the route, you will have 2 options to have a close look at small villages’ life along the river, particularly during your time spent at a local family’s homestead:

  • Option 1: Have a trip to a traditional riverside house and have a chance to see giant Burmese pythons as pets. We will take an expedition to view a Mekong village with surrounding beautiful paddies. Later on, we will head to a traditional farmhouse to sample some cool fresh coconuts and distinct Mekong whisky.
  • Option 2: We will visit a local merchant to have a taste of their range of products, which include authentic Mekong whisky and wine. Relax and wander along the banks of the river to a rural Vietnamese house, then explore the local village where you can taste the freshness of coconuts from the trees. You should take your chance to explore some interesting insights about the Mekong Delta people's life during the tour.

NOTE: Our tours are flexible. Your guide may combine parts from both routes.

12:30: Enjoy a traditional Mekong Delta lunch at a restaurant with regional typical cuisine

Afternoon

We will visit an orphanage run by Buddhist monks and get to know the cute kids if you like.

After that, you head to the colorful Cao Dai Temple. The church's uniqueness originates from the merging of religious symbols and pictures of saints from inside to outside.

NOTE: Remember that the temple is usually closed, so you can only see it from the outside.

14:30: Return to your luxury speedboat and depart for Ho Chi Minh City.

16:00: Arrive back in Ho Chi Minh. You will return to your hotel by car. Trip ends.
