The highlight of Day cruises in Can Tho

Cruises from a few hours to full-day tours to Can Tho’s surrounding countryside and into the middle of the river life of the Mekong delta, on board the Mystic sampans.

The Mystic sampans are large sampans able to run the medium-range cruise through the maze of canals and tributaries of the Mekong, and can navigate by night in comfort. They are built so as to allow you a level access to the action at the floating market, and offer the perfect platform to carry a party of cyclists out to the green.

The Mystic sampans accommodate 24 passengers, seated at the carré or at their tables with service at the table, or with a buffet for larger groups. They can host breakfasts as well as lunches and dinners.

Our services range from breakfast to the floating market to a discovery of a Khmer sanctuary with lunch on board, to sunset cruises, grand days out to the green area, or even dinner on board.

Tour 01: Breakfast cruise to Cai Rang floating market (07h00am at the Can Tho market hall – Duration: 3 hours)

Board a Mystic sampan at the Can Tho old market and take a breakfast of Vietnamese and Western dishes while watching the scenery of daily local life on the banks. After the breakfast the Mystic sampan cruises right into the Cai Rang floating market, in between the traders’ boats. Leaving the floating market, the sampan takes you to a visit on shore before returning to Can Tho.

The inclusion: Breakfast on board a Mystic sampan, selection of drinks on board, visit of Cai Rang floating market, visit on shore. (Breakfast includes some Vietnamese specialties, a continental breakfast with bread, croissants and chocolate bread from our bakery, but croque-monsieur, yoghurt and fruit, to be served with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit juice.)

Tour 02: Breakfast cruise to a Khmer pagoda (07h00am at the Can Tho market hall – Duration: 3,5 hours)

A Mystic sampan takes you on a breakfast cruise all the way to a Khmer pagoda hidden in the countryside on the other side of the Mekong. An opportunity to visit a small local market, then for a promenade to the Phù Ly Khmer sanctuary with its theravada pagoda and large lying Buddha before turning back.

The inclusion: Breakfast cruise on a Mystic sampan, local English-speaking guide, visit to a Khmer sanctuary, visit on shore on the way. (Breakfast includes some Vietnamese specialties, a continental breakfast with bread, croissants and chocolate bread from our bakery, but croque-monsieur, yoghurt and fruit, to be served with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit juice.)

Tour 03: Lunch cruise to a Khmer pagoda (11h30am at the Can Tho market hall – Duration: 3 hours)

An appealing alternative to having lunch on shore: the Mystic sampan takes you to lunch on the way to a Khmer pagoda hidden in the countryside on the other side of the Mekong. The menu is typically Vietnamese, but given advance notice we can prepare the menu of your choice. Ideal if you are about to get away from Can Tho, as you can rendez-vous with your vehicle and shorten your road.

The inclusion: Cruise on a Mystic sampan, Vietnamese meal, local English-speaking guide, visit to a Khmer sanctuary. (The typical menu includes green mango salad, grilled sea bass in a banana leaf, chicken with lemongrass, sauteed vegetables, steam rice, and ends with fresh fruit and pineapple cake.)

Tour 04: Dinner cruise on Sampan (19h00am at the Can Tho market hall – Duration: 2,5 hours)

The Mystic sampan welcomes you for dinner on a round trip to outside the city of Cần Thơ. It takes you around an island to see the night lights of the Cần Thơ bridge then to skirt the city by night. Dinner is prepared at the premises of the Sao Hôm restaurant, just at the boarding point, and makes the best of the professional kitchen and bakery. The menu is typically Vietnamese, but given advance notice we can prepare the menu of your choice.

Tour 05: Sunset cruise on Sampan (16h00am at the Can Tho market hall – Duration: 2 hours)

Take a snack and a drink while cruising on a Mystic sampan about the river through the photographer’s golden hour. A stop in a shaded arroyo for a stroll gives you a unique opportunity to come near the rural life of the Cần Thơ area. You can choose your drink in a selection of home drinks: punch or juice. Additional drinks, wine, soda and beer are also available at a premium. Water is available at your discretion.

Tour 06: Day out – Gold and Green (7h30am at the Can Tho market hall – End at 15h00)

Board a Mystic sampan with a breakfast to start a cruise across the wide Mekong and slither into a green river; stop at a local market for a stroll, then further on to a Khmer sanctuary with its guarded surrounding walls, its golden pagoda and a large lying Buddha. Downstream, leave the sampan and start riding a bicycle through the countryside on the way to a small typical farm. Meet its inhabitants, give a hand in the kitchen or follow the ducks in the garden. After a good meal with the farmers and a little nap, take a stroll in the orchard. A short stroll across a ferry takes you to a rendez-vous with a car that will take you back to town.

The inclusion: Mystic cruise with breakfast on board, visit to Phù Ly Khmer pagoda, bicycle tour –an easy 10 km, visit of an orchard and some local activities, meal at a small farm and with the farmers, local English-speaking guide, transfer back to Can Thơ
